This refined standing Tara originates from the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, and dates to the 18th century. Cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax technique, the figure retains clear traces of original fire gilding, visible across the body, ornaments, and lotus base.

Tara is depicted in an elegant tribhanga posture, holding a lotus (utpala), symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening. The proportions are slender and balanced, with finely detailed jewelry, a high crown, and a calm, meditative facial expression typical of Newar craftsmanship.

The surface shows a deep, naturally developed patina with areas of wear that reveal the underlying bronze, combined with mineral deposits and oxidation consistent with long-term ritual use. The gilding has aged authentically, creating a warm interplay between gold tones and darker aged bronze.
